Bagnaia Steers Clear of Rossi-Marquez Controversy: Remains Neutral on Historical MotoGP Feud
Francesco Bagnaia chooses to remain neutral on Valentino Rossi's recent remarks about Marc Marquez.
"I wasn't competing in MotoGP at that time, and I prefer to stay out of it since it's not something that concerns me."
Francesco Bagnaia has stated he will stay neutral and avoid any tensions between his guide Valentino Rossi and his upcoming Ducati teammate Marc Marquez.
In a recent podcast, Rossi reignited discussion on a highly debated topic in MotoGP lore, maintaining his belief that Marquez intentionally aided Jorge Lorenzo in the closing stages of the 2015 season.
In response to a query about Rossi's recent remarks, just before the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix this weekend, the two-time defending champion Bagnaia shared his thoughts:
"Frankly, I'm distancing myself from this… I wasn't competing in MotoGP at that time, and I prefer to stay uninvolved as it doesn't concern me."
As the 2015 championship battle between Rossi and Lorenzo was reaching its peak, Rossi openly charged Marquez with engaging in unfair tactics right before the second-to-last race in Malaysia. This incident occurred shortly after Marquez had overtaken Lorenzo in the final lap to win at Phillip Island.
Following Rossi's claims, he and Marquez engaged in an intense fight during the initial rounds of the Sepang race, leading to an irritated Rossi pushing Marquez out wide.
As a consequence, the Repsol Honda racer suffered a crash, and with the additional penalty points awarded to Rossi, which, added to a previous penalty point, resulted in him beginning at the back of the grid for the final race in Valencia.
Lorenzo secured the global championship with a five-point lead.
