Mortara Tops Audi's Sweep in Final Practice
Edoardo Mortara of Team Abt spearheaded a commanding performance, securing the top spot as Audi claimed the first four positions in the last practice session before qualifying for the second DTM race in Austria at the Red Bull Ring.
In total, seven Audis secured positions within the top ten, with Mortara leading the RS 5 group. He outpaced Jamie Green, Timo Scheider, and Mike Rockenfeller, resulting in a dominant sweep of the top four spots.
The famous Spielberg master stayed close behind the victorious BMWs in yesterday’s first race, maintaining his streak of podium finishes in Austria with a third-place finish.
Leading the championship, Paul di Resta was the quickest non-Audi driver, securing the fifth position for Mercedes, followed by his compatriot, Tom Blomqvist.
Paul Di Resta finished in seventh place in yesterday's race, which allowed the Mercedes driver to maintain his lead in the championship standings. However, his lead has been cut to just three points over his closest competitor, Mortara.
Mattias Ekstrom, Adrien Tambay, and Nico Muller secured the seventh, eighth, and ninth spots for Audi, respectively, while Esteban Ocon clocked the tenth fastest time driving his Mercedes C63.
