Alex Rins Eyes Future with Yamaha Amid Contract Talks for 2025 MotoGP Season
Alex Rins has announced intentions to discuss a potential agreement with Yamaha for 2025, though no concrete proposals have been made yet.
Alex Rins, who has clinched victory in six MotoGP races, embarked on his inaugural season with Yamaha, having transitioned from Honda to the Japanese manufacturer.
Even though Rins has faced challenges in keeping up during competitions, he has recently demonstrated a knack for maximizing his M1's performance during the qualifying rounds. This comes as Yamaha works diligently to narrow the gap with leading teams such as Ducati, Aprilia, and KTM.
Yamaha has formally approached Fabio Quartararo, securing him with a significant two-year contract valued at 12 million Euros.
Currently, attention has shifted towards finalizing the second spot at Yamaha, with Rins appearing to be in a good position to continue partnering with Quartararo.
Should Yamaha succeed in pulling Pramac from Ducati's grasp to operate a pair of satellite motorcycles, this move might alter their choice for the rider of the second official team bike.
Rins disclosed following the Italian MotoGP at Mugello that discussions regarding the renewal of their contract are set to occur.
Recent seasons have seen Rins battling injuries, yet the ex-Suzuki competitor's appetite for competition remains undiminished.
Indeed, the champion who has succeeded with Suzuki and Honda is eager to continue competing in MotoGP for many more years.
In response to a question about whether his desire to compete at the pinnacle of MotoGP has waned, Rins stated, “Truthfully, not at all. I remain the same Alex, with the same level of ambition as before.”
"I'm excited about the coming year. We plan to discuss with Yamaha, but as of now, there's nothing confirmed. We'll see what happens."
