Yamaha’s ‘Really Good’ Engine Set for Dutch MotoGP Debut? Quartararo and Rins Offer Conflicting Views
New 'Excellent' Yamaha Engine Set for Unveiling at Dutch MotoGP?
Alex Rins: 'We have only one new engine per rider, so we need to strategize a bit.'
Both Fabio Quartararo and Alex Rins have confirmed that they tested a promising new Yamaha MotoGP engine during a recent private session in Valencia.
However, they expressed varying opinions about whether the new engine would be ready for the Assen race this weekend.
According to Motomatters.com, Quartararo mentioned that they evaluated an excellent engine in Valencia. He noted that this engine significantly enhanced agility and cornering, which he believes will be extremely beneficial moving forward.
"One of the major issues we face is the cornering," Rins mentioned. "The current engine provides significant assistance with that."
However, they had differing opinions on the timing of the engine's debut at a grand prix event.
"We can't use it at the moment. I'm uncertain about when it will be available," stated Quartararo.
Nonetheless, Rins, in a separate statement, confirmed that it will be on track at Assen.
"The true challenge awaits us tomorrow and over the weekend. We'll receive genuine feedback on Sunday after the race when we compare ourselves with the other competitors."
"We only have one of the new engines for each rider, so we need to strategize a bit. We'll install it in one bike, while the other bike will use the standard engine. This way, we can make a proper comparison."
A list detailing the official MotoGP engines is expected to be released towards the conclusion of the Assen weekend. This list will reveal whether the Yamaha riders have utilized any 'new' engines.
Yamaha and Honda are the sole MotoGP manufacturers permitted to modify their engine specifications throughout the season, thanks to their D concessions status.
