Yamaha’s Promising New Engine: Debut Dilemma Ahead of Dutch MotoGP?
Yamaha's highly anticipated engine set to premiere at Dutch MotoGP?
Alex Rins remarks, "Each rider gets just one of the new engines, so we'll have to strategize a bit."
Fabio Quartararo and Alex Rins have both verified their trials of an encouraging new Yamaha MotoGP engine at the latest exclusive testing session in Valencia.
However, opinions varied on the likelihood of the new engine being ready for the Assen race this weekend.
"According to Motomatters.com, Quartararo expressed satisfaction after testing an exceptional engine in Valencia, stating, 'The engine significantly enhances agility and turning capabilities, which I believe will greatly assist us moving forward.'"
"Rins mentioned, 'The challenge we face majorly lies in maneuvering. The engine we have aids significantly in this aspect.'"
However, they had differing opinions on the timing of the engine's debut at a grand prix.
"Currently, it's unusable for us. The timeline for when it might become usable is unclear," stated Quartararo.
Nonetheless, Rins, addressing the matter independently, made it evident that he will be present on the circuit at Assen.
Our true challenge lies ahead, with the critical assessment scheduled for Sunday, following the competition, as we benchmark ourselves against fellow competitors.
"We have a single new engine available for each rider, necessitating some strategy on our part. We will install it on one motorcycle while the other will retain the standard engine. This setup will allow us to conduct a proper comparison."
The formal MotoGP motor lineup, set to be released towards the conclusion of the Assen weekend, will verify whether Yamaha competitors have utilized any 'fresh' engines.
Yamaha and Honda have the exclusive privilege to modify their engine specifications throughout the MotoGP season, thanks to their special designation under the D concessions ranking.
