Yamaha and Pramac Forge New Partnership: Future MotoGP and Moto2 Ambitions Unveiled
Pramac Yamaha's MotoGP agreement features plans for a future Moto2 initiative.
'Alongside the MotoGP efforts, our partnership also incorporates a prospective Moto2 project.'
Yamaha's new satellite MotoGP team starting in 2025 will be Pramac, as officially announced. The announcement also confirmed that Pramac will receive 'factory bikes' and unveiled plans for a 'future Moto2 project'.
Yamaha is involved in Moto2 through its support of the VR46 Mastercamp team.
"Yamaha is experiencing a period of intense activity, both in racing and in their internal operations," commented Lin Jarvis, the Managing Director of Yamaha Motor Racing. "It's well-known that they are fully dedicated to advancing their motorcycle technology."
"We are now moving into a new stage, one that we have eagerly anticipated for quite some time: the introduction of an additional Yamaha team."
The collaboration with Prima Pramac Racing will adopt a new approach compared to previous ones.
Instead of collaborating with a secondary team, Yamaha has decided to place their confidence in Pramac Racing through this new deal. We will supply them with Factory bikes that match the specifications of those used by the Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP Team.
"The goals are to speed up the advancement of bike technology, which continues to be the main focus for YMC and YMR as we strive to get back to our winning form. Additionally, we aim to have four strong competitors in the MotoGP championship across two elite teams."
"Alongside our MotoGP initiative, we are also planning a Moto2 project aimed at nurturing upcoming MotoGP talent. Although specifics of this programme are not available at the moment, further information will be revealed in the coming months."
“I want to personally express my gratitude to Paolo Campinoti, the CEO of Pramac, and Gino Borsoi, the Team Manager of Prima Pramac Racing, for believing in and supporting Yamaha.
"We deeply respect their team and are fully committed to ensuring this new partnership thrives for many years ahead."
Yamaha has not had a satellite MotoGP team since RNF moved to Aprilia in 2022.
