Vinales Battles Shaking Issues at Assen to Secure Top Five Finish Amidst Ducati Dominance
Maverick Vinales discusses the difficulties he faced with "change of direction" at Assen
Maverick Vinales experienced vibrations while making high-speed directional changes at Assen.
Maverick Vinales emerged as Ducati's main competitor at the Dutch MotoGP, contending fiercely with Enea Bastianini, Marc Marquez, and Fabio Di Giannantonio for a spot on the podium.
After the race, Vinales secured fifth place due to a penalty given to Marquez, which moved him down to tenth position.
However, Vinales faced a challenging race as he pushed himself to the edge right from the start.
Vinales seemed to possess a speed edge on specific sections of the track and appeared to face no problems competing against his opponents.
However, the Aprilia rider encountered issues, experiencing intense vibrations while navigating high-speed turns.
Vinales mentioned that he faced difficulties throughout the entire race. He was unsure if the wind had shifted, but every time he transitioned from turn 14 to turn 15, his bike experienced significant shaking.
"I was falling behind significantly in these corners. It appears that our bike's ability to change direction, which is typically its strong suit, was actually its biggest weakness when compared to the competition."
"We're not content as we aimed for victory, but we are pleased with our performance since we were the sole competitors giving Ducati a run for their money."
"I noticed Pedro [Acosta] was nearby, but he had a different tire. Honestly, I pushed myself to the limit from the very first lap."
Maverick Viñales was the sole factory Aprilia rider competing, as Aleix Espargaro was sidelined due to an injury.
Lorenzo Savadori, who serves as a test rider, decided to skip the grand prix after suffering back fractures in a crash during the sprint race.
