Tragedy Strikes at School Gates: Community Rallies with Blood Drive as Investigation into Fatal Bus Crash Unfolds
Five children and six adults have died in eastern China after a bus collided with a group at a school, resulting in the driver's arrest. Meanwhile, a nearby cinema has deployed blood donation vans, responding to a social media campaign to help the numerous individuals injured in the accident.
On Tuesday morning in Eastern China, a bus collided with a group of people outside a junior high school, resulting in 11 deaths and 24 injuries.
State media CCTV reports that the accident happened at about 7 a.m. outside Foshan Junior High School in Dongping County, Shandong Province, on the second day of the school year.
According to the report, the injured were transported to the hospital.
According to Dongping police, among the deceased are six parents and five students. One individual sustained severe injuries, whereas 12 others are in stable condition. The status of additional casualties remains unclear.
Authorities reported that the transport in question was a school bus assigned to ferry students. It encountered trouble near an intersection, leading to a collision with pedestrians. Law enforcement has since taken the driver into custody, and an investigation into the incident is underway.
