Trackhouse Clarifies Rider Market Strategies Amid Contract Uncertainties and Manager Calls
Trackhouse clarified their stance regarding the potential signing of Jack Miller or Joe Roberts, stating,
"I receive calls from managers, but the number of calls is diminishing with each passing day."
Trackhouse has provided a glimpse into their negotiations with riders for the upcoming season.
The newly rebranded team, supported by the US, faces uncertainty regarding its MotoGP roster for 2025, as the contracts for both Raul Fernandez and Miguel Oliveira are set to expire.
Fernandez is reportedly in the final stages of negotiating a new contract with the team.
However, Trackhouse is exploring various possibilities and has initiated discussions with other unemployed riders, including Jack Miller.
Speaking to TNT Sports, team principal Davide Brivio discussed the prospects of retaining Fernandez and Oliveira for the 2025 season. He stated, "Our main focus is to have discussions with both riders. In truth, we are quite close with Raul."
"He’s content to remain, and we’re pleased to have him. We believe he has significant potential. This experience with him has been successful."
"We are in discussions with Miguel as well. He is considering other opportunities."
"We need to identify the right balance to keep him content and encourage him to stay. We're actively working on this."
The team's rebranding for this season, establishing them as the first American team in more than ten years, has sparked rumors that they might be looking to introduce a US rider into MotoGP.
Joe Roberts stands out as the top contender. He is presently ranked third in Moto2 and has confirmed that multiple MotoGP teams have shown interest in him for the 2025 season.
Brivio explained that they might need to consider alternative plans, such as Plan B or Plan C, by evaluating other riders if they are unable to reach a satisfactory agreement with Miguel.
“It’s common knowledge that the market situation is straightforward. There’s a single seasoned rider on the market; otherwise, teams will need to consider a newcomer.”
Requests from supervisors are 'lessening'
Miller is in search of a new team, having been pushed out at KTM.
Brivio confirmed that they are in discussions with Jack.
“I receive phone calls from managers, but the number of calls is going down each day.”
"That's the process; there's no secrecy involved. You receive a call, you are aware of who can respond, and you maintain the conversation."
"The process is similar for both team managers and riders. I'm confident that Miguel and Jack are in discussions with multiple teams; that's how the industry operates!"
Last Saturday in Germany was the most successful day of the MotoGP season for Trackhouse.
Oliveira secured the second position and Fernandez took third in the German MotoGP qualifying. In the sprint race, Oliveira achieved a podium finish, marking his team's first of the 2024 season.
The efforts Brivio has put in since joining earlier this year have paid off.
He had a past collaboration with Suzuki in MotoGP, where he guided Joan Mir to win the 2020 championship, but his latest endeavors have been in Formula 1.
Brivio mentioned, "I just got here. We're in the process of creating something and setting up the team."
"It's challenging with the market. We aim to foster a positive environment and remain united, particularly with Raul and Miguel."
“We aspire to foster a culture of perseverance, continuous effort, and unwavering determination.”
