Trackhouse Reaffirms Strategy Amid Rider Market Speculation: Fernandez in Talks, Miller and Roberts Under Consideration
Trackhouse clarified the situation regarding the potential signing of Jack Miller or Joe Roberts, stating, "I receive calls from managers, but these calls are becoming less frequent each day!"
Trackhouse has provided a glimpse into their negotiations with riders for the upcoming season.
The newly rebranded US-supported team faces uncertainty regarding their 2025 MotoGP rider roster as the contracts for both Raul Fernandez and Miguel Oliveira are set to expire.
It is thought that Fernandez is in the final stages of negotiating a new contract with the team.
However, Trackhouse is exploring various possibilities by engaging in discussions with other available riders, including Jack Miller.
Speaking to TNT Sports, team manager Davide Brivio discussed the possibility of retaining Fernandez and Oliveira for 2025: “Our main focus is to negotiate with both riders. In truth, we are fairly close to Raul.”
"He is content to remain here, and we are pleased with his presence. We believe he possesses significant potential. This journey with him has been successful."
"We're in discussions with Miguel as well. He has alternative opportunities."
"We need to identify the right balance and ensure he is content to remain. We're actively addressing this."
This season's rebranding of the team, which marks them as the first American team in more than ten years, has sparked speculation that they might consider introducing a US rider to MotoGP.
Joe Roberts stands out as a top contender. Currently holding third place in Moto2, he has claimed that multiple MotoGP teams have shown interest in signing him for the 2025 season.
Brivio explained that they might consider other riders as a backup option if they can't reach a satisfactory deal with Miguel.
"It's common knowledge that the situation in the market is straightforward. There's only one experienced rider available, and if you don't choose them, you'll have to opt for a newcomer."
Managers are contacting Miller less frequently as he searches for a new team following his departure from KTM.
Brivio acknowledged that they are in discussions with Jack.
"I receive calls from managers, but the number of calls is dropping with each passing day."
"That's the process; there's no secret to it. You receive a call, identify who's free, and continue the conversation."
"This is the process for team managers and riders. I'm confident that both Miguel and Jack are in discussions with multiple teams, as that's how the industry operates!"
Last Saturday in Germany, Trackhouse experienced their most successful day of the MotoGP season.
Oliveira secured the second position, while Fernandez clinched third, during the German MotoGP qualifying. Oliveira went on to achieve a podium finish in the sprint race, marking his team's first top-three result of the 2024 season.
It was a recognition of the efforts Brivio had put in since he joined earlier this year.
He had earlier collaborated with Suzuki in MotoGP, guiding Joan Mir to clinch the 2020 title, but had lately been involved in Formula 1.
Brivio mentioned that he has only just gotten here and that they are working on creating and setting up the team.
"The situation with the market is complex. Our goal is to foster a positive environment and maintain unity, particularly with Raul and Miguel."
"We aim to foster a culture that encourages perseverance, continuous effort, and determination."
