Revolutionizing Cross-Border Deliveries: Alibaba’s Cainiao Launches Next-Day Service via Hong Kong-Zhuhai Air Route
Cainiao, the logistics company of Alibaba, initiates cross-border delivery services the next day via Hong Kong. By introducing a new route from Hong Kong airport to Zhuhai, online orders can be delivered to customers in Shanghai, Zhejiang, and Jiangsu within a day.
The service provides the facility to transport items, kept in a Cainiao storage facility close to Hong Kong International Airport, across the Pearl River Estuary to Zhuhai, located in Guangdong province. Following this, the goods will be air transported to Hangzhou, the capital city of Zhejiang province, and then dispatched to consumers, as per the organization's announcement on Wednesday.
At the moment, the novel service is exclusively accessible to those living in Shanghai, Zhejiang, and Jiangsu who have bought items online from foreign countries. This is because these regions boast the quickest cross-region package delivery times.
The Zhuhai path challenges the existing method of delivering goods mainly by truck or rail, which is quite slow, or by air from Hong Kong to Shanghai, which can be expensive. The newly introduced service, named Gangzhufei, which loosely translates to "Hong Kong-Zhuhai by air", has the potential to cut down shipping time by at least a day. According to Cainiao, customers in specific regions could potentially receive their packages the very next day after making an order.
