Raul Fernandez Unlocks Speed Secret at Sachsenring: Relaxation and Enjoyment Key to Racing Success
Raul Fernandez shares the secret to triumph at Sachsenring: "Our speed comes from being calm and finding joy in racing."
Raul Fernandez is set to maintain his strong performance at the upcoming German MotoGP, following his eighth-place finish in Assen.
The Trackhouse competitor encountered a significant accident at turn seven during the weekend, but this incident didn't hinder the Spanish racer's performance, as he continued to surpass his teammate, Miguel Oliveira, on the track.
"Fernandez expressed his contentment, stating, 'Coming off a strong performance in Assen has me feeling positive. We put in solid work there. First and foremost, my goal is to ensure I'm fully prepared and in top condition, especially after enduring a severe crash in Assen that caused quite a bit of discomfort.'"
"I'm confident that after taking a few days off to rest, I'll start feeling better. Hence, my goal for Sachsenring is to maintain a positive outlook, strive to reach Q2, approach each day as it comes, and focus on staying calm."
"This is crucial because being in a state of relaxation and enjoyment during racing, alongside performing well, leads to speed. Achieving this is also our aim for Germany."
Thanks to his improved performance, Fernandez appears poised to remain in MotoGP for the upcoming season, a situation that Oliveira also finds himself in.
The rider from Portugal faced challenges at Assen and aims to recover at Sachsenring, a track where he has previously shown impressive performance.
Oliveira noted, “The Sachsenring circuit stands out due to its distinctive and intriguing layout. It's quite compact, featuring numerous left-hand turns.
"Typically, my competitive streak shines through in Germany, so I'm eagerly anticipating our arrival there for the final race of the season's first half, right before we go on break. I aim to immediately gel with the RS-GP24, finishing strong in both form and with valuable points."
