Quartararo Eyes Improvement for Yamaha in MotoGP’s Second Half: A Beacon of Hope Despite Sachsenring Setback
Fabio Quartararo brings optimism to Yamaha: “We have identified areas for enhancement”
Fabio Quartararo: “We have pinpointed the areas that need work. I believe the latter half of the season will see us making progress and getting better.”
Fabio Quartararo is optimistic about Yamaha's future, even after facing challenges at the German MotoGP in Sachsenring.
At the location of his final MotoGP victory in 2022, Quartararo finished in 11th place by the conclusion of Sunday's 30-lap competition.
Despite not securing a spot in the top ten, the 2021 world champion remained optimistic, identifying several positive aspects as they looked forward to the latter half of the year.
Quartararo commented, “The Grand Prix was challenging, yet today's performance exceeded our anticipations. Initially, we struggled significantly with the new tyres, but by the end, my gap to the winner was roughly equivalent to that of yesterday's Sprint, which I believe is quite an accomplishment.
"We're aware of the areas that need enhancement. I believe the latter half of the season will show improvement and that we will indeed get better."
"Since the beginning of the year, we've advanced. Although it might not be evident from the outcomes just yet, we're diligently putting in the effort. We're hopeful that the progress we've achieved will soon become visible to you."
Finishing 19th in his MotoGP comeback, Remy Gardner turned heads with his remarkable performance as a substitute for Alex Rins.
Following adjustments made after the sprint race, Gardner experienced noticeable enhancements during the warm-up session, which then positively impacted his performance in the grand prix.
"Gardner mentioned, "We adjusted the setup to enhance my connection with the motorcycle. I noticed an improvement during the Warm Up, leading me to believe we were in for a strong race.
The speed up to lap 10 was impressive. I was in a battle with Zarco and Bradl, aiming to catch up to Mir, managing to stay ahead of Bradl for about 8-9 laps, which was a positive outcome.
"I was unsure of how to handle the decrease in performance of the back tyre during the final 10 laps, but that ultimately comes with experience."
Nonetheless, when evaluating my speed against the average performance in the rear during yesterday's Sprint and today's Race, the pace I achieved today shows a significant improvement.
"I trust that my input was valuable and offered a fresh perspective, and I hope that Yamaha can derive some benefits from it."
