Pramac Yamaha’s 2025 MotoGP Line-Up: Jack Miller, Miguel Oliveira, and Fabio di Giannantonio Top Shortlist as Experienced Riders Sought for New Project
Pramac Yamaha chief announces three possible riders for 2025
"We require seasoned riders for the initiative we're starting"
Paolo Campinoti, who owns the Pramac team, has identified three potential riders for their upcoming Yamaha initiative.
Pramac has announced that they will switch from Ducati to Yamaha for the next season, leaving two open spots in their 2025 MotoGP team.
Jorge Martin has secured a contract with Aprilia for the next racing season, and it seems improbable that his current Pramac teammate, Franco Morbidelli, will return to Yamaha, the team that let him go a year earlier.
Campinoti informed TNT Sports at Assen that for the project they are starting, they require skilled riders to elevate the bike to its proper standard.
"I'm not sure which cyclist will show up."
"Certainly, among those mentioned are Jack Miller, Miguel Oliveira, and Fabio di Giannantonio…"
"The next issue Yamaha needs to address is securing a talented rider."
Campinoti clarified that the decision regarding Pramac riders will be made jointly by him and Yamaha.
"Definitely, next year, we will seize any available opportunities."
"We also intend to establish a Moto2 team to develop young riders for MotoGP."
Campinoti referred to Pramac in 2025 as an "expanded factory team," signifying that they will receive the same support and have bikes identical to those of Yamaha's official team.
"Keep everything as it is," he demanded.
Campinoti dismissed the possibility of bringing a Moto2 rider, specifically Joe Roberts, onto the team in 2025.
The futures of KTM's Miller, Trackhouse's Oliveira, and VR46's Di Giannantonio remain unclear.
Miller is aware that there is no longer any room for him at KTM, as they have substituted him in their factory team with Pedro Acosta, and subsequently announced Maverick Vinales and Enea Bastianini as part of a fresh Tech3 roster.
Miller has expressed dissatisfaction with KTM's management of his case, alleging that they assured him there was no cause for concern, only to subsequently replace him.
As of now, Oliveira has not signed a contract with Aprilia's Trackhouse project.
This season, the Trackhouse team has rebranded to a US-supported team, which may influence their choices regarding their rider lineup. Meanwhile, it seems more probable that Raul Fernandez will secure a new contract.
Giannantonio finished strong in the closing races of last year with Gresini and has maintained his impressive performance this season with VR46.
However, the position of VR46 within Ducati is shifting because Pramac is leaving. VR46 is aiming to secure an extra factory-spec Desmosedici. They have already seen Marco Bezzecchi depart and have yet to finalize their lineup for 2025.
Yamaha has secured a long-term contract with Fabio Quartararo, while current teammate Alex Rins is in advanced negotiations to extend his tenure.
