Pedrosa Predicts Marquez Will Target Bagnaia’s Weak Spots in High-Stakes Ducati Showdown
Dani Pedrosa anticipates that Marc Marquez will aim to strike Pecco in a vulnerable spot. Pedrosa stated, "I believe Marc's initial move will be to target Pecco where it will have the most impact."
Dani Pedrosa thinks that Marc Marquez will go to great lengths to unsettle Francesco Bagnaia at Ducati when they join forces as MotoGP teammates next season.
Marquez and Bagnaia are slated to become one of the most skilled and intimidating duos in MotoGP history come 2025, yet their partnership is likely to create significant challenges for Ducati.
Bagnaia has risen to prominence as Ducati’s leading rider, securing two championship titles over the past two seasons. However, with Marquez transferring from Gresini, the dynamics are set to shift.
Pedrosa, who spent multiple years partnering with Marquez at Repsol Honda, thinks Bagnaia's remarks have already proven the point.
In an interview with DAZN, Pedrosa mentioned, "While he's performing admirably right now, his setup is specifically tailored to help him achieve positive outcomes. He often emphasizes that nothing needs to be altered, highlighting the sense of calm he experiences in the garage, as well as the workflow and approach."
"He’s communicating directly and indirectly to a rider who is opposed to him, especially since we've already witnessed all the events that took place just from him signing the contract… including Yamaha with Pramac, Martin at Aprilia, and others."
In 2025, Marquez and Bagnaia will compete on the same model bike, the GP25, giving Marquez the opportunity to challenge Bagnaia under equal conditions.
In the latest races, the GP24 has shown a significant edge over the Ducati model from last year that Marquez is riding.
Taking that into account and considering Marquez's historical performance against his teammates, Pedrosa anticipates that the eight-time world champion will attempt to assert the same dominance over Bagnaia.
Pedrosa commented, "I believe that Marc will come and his initial move will be to strike Pecco in the most impactful way."
