Pedro Acosta Faces Steep Challenge to Break Marquez’s Youngest MotoGP Winner Record at Sachsenring
Pedro Acosta acknowledges that surpassing Marc Marquez's record to become the youngest victor in a MotoGP race "will be a challenging task."
Pedro Acosta is presented with his last opportunity to secure the title of the youngest MotoGP victor this weekend at Sachsenring.
Nonetheless, he faces two significant hurdles. The first being that Ducati has been unbeatable in the latest competitions.
Ducati has secured victories in five out of the last six races, sprints included, with Francesco Bagnaia clinching all five wins. Moreover, they have dominated the podium by filling all three spots in the most recent five Grand Prix events.
"Let's wait and see," Acosta mentioned in a conversation with MotoGP.com. "Indeed, we plan to determine our strategy for the weekend.
"Defeating him won't be simple, but let's wait and see how the weekend unfolds and what we can achieve."
"Holding this record is a pleasant achievement, yet it's not our primary focus."
"We must concentrate, perform well, and regain our competitive edge."
KTM's performance in the latest races hasn't lived up to expectations, yet Acosta has continued to stand out even after falling during the last lap of the Dutch MotoGP.
Sharp turns have posed a significant challenge, yet the rising star is confident that the RC16 will perform well at Sachsenring.
In response to inquiries about their optimism for success, Acosta mentioned, "I believe so. We're facing some challenges on quicker circuits, but in turns similar to those at Sachsenring, our motorcycle seems to perform slightly better."
Marquez secured his inaugural win in the MotoGP series during his second appearance, clinching victory at the Circuit of the Americas in 2013, at the youthful age of 20 years and 63 days.
By the time the MotoGP competition takes place at Silverstone in the early days of August, Acosta will have surpassed the age of 20 years and 63 days.
