Pecco Bagnaia Praises Jorge Martin’s Move to Aprilia: ‘He’ll Be Even Stronger This Season
Francesco Bagnaia thinks Jorge Martin is a great fit for the Aprilia bike and anticipates that Martin will perform even better this season.
MotoGP series leader Jorge Martin, who was passed over in favor of Marc Marquez for the 2025 factory Ducati position, will be joining Aprilia.
Martin, who came in second to Francesco Bagnaia in the two races at Assen last weekend, maintains a 10-point lead over the Italian as they approach the Sachsenring event this weekend, where Martin claimed victory in both races in 2023.
Regardless of the rest of this season or his future with Aprilia, Martin is expected to maintain his position as a championship contender.
However, after Ducati's rejection, Bagnaia anticipates that a more formidable Martin will emerge for the rest of 2024.
Bagnaia mentioned to TNT Sports that he believes Jorge is an incredibly skilled racer, highlighting his impressive speed and excellent braking ability.
"Next season with Aprilia, he will perform well because his riding style matches the Aprilia bike perfectly. However, I believe he will be even stronger this season."
Bagnaia’s victory at Assen was his third consecutive win at the Dutch track over the past three seasons.
The competition in MotoGP is fiercer than ever, which makes his win even more remarkable. Nonetheless, the Italian rider anticipates significant challenges in the latter half of the season.
Bagnaia commented that he believes the championship is currently at its peak level.
"It's amazing how quickly we perform at every race track. We're consistently six or seven tenths of a second faster everywhere. The level of competition is excellent at the moment. I'm really enjoying it."
"Martin is performing excellently. Marc is also doing well, and we'll need to keep an eye on Acosta, Vinales, and several other riders. Now that all the contracts are finalized, they can concentrate more on their riding in the second half of the championship."
