Pecco Bagnaia Battles Neck and Shoulder Pain Following Aragon MotoGP Crash with Alex Marquez
Pecco Bagnaia "in considerable pain" following crash with Alex Marquez at the Aragon MotoGP
Francesco Bagnaia reported experiencing pain in his neck and shoulder after colliding with Alex Marquez during the Aragon MotoGP.
Francesco Bagnaia has described the various injuries he's coping with following his accident with Alex Marquez during the Aragon MotoGP last weekend.
The pair collided when Marquez veered off track at turn 12 during lap 18 of the Grand Prix. Bagnaia, initially starting in third position but slipping to seventh due to a bad start, was working his way up through the field and appeared poised to claim the final podium spot from Marquez.
The Italian racer attempted to capitalize on Marquez’s mistake at turn 12, moving in at turn 13 just a few hundred meters later, but the collision between them resulted in both being unable to finish the race.
Bagnaia experienced an uncomfortable tumble under Marquez's bike and subsequently visited the medical center.
In an interview with MotoGP.com following the Aragon race, Bagnaia mentioned experiencing "neck pain" but noted that "it could be much more severe, so it's bearable."

Through a message shared on his Instagram story, Bagnaia clarified the details of the accident and mentioned experiencing pain in his left shoulder.
Bagnaia explained that he saw an opportunity when Alex Marquez went wide, allowing him to overtake. He then approached the next turn with a wider line, aware that another rider was nearby. Unfortunately, this move led to an undesirable outcome, adding to what had already been a challenging weekend.
"Following another challenging beginning caused by the difficult conditions at that grid position, I was able to mount a strong recovery and my pace improved significantly. At the moment, I'm experiencing a fair amount of pain, particularly in my left shoulder, but it appears that no bones are broken."
"We'll make every effort to be in peak condition for Misano."
As the San Marino Grand Prix approaches this weekend, Bagnaia has just four days to regain his physical condition before the practice sessions for his home race start. This situation is quite similar to last year when he crashed at the Catalan Grand Prix and came to Misano with leg injuries.
Last year, Bagnaia secured third place in both the Sprint and Grand Prix events despite dealing with injuries. However, the impact of his recent Aragon crash on his performance in Misano will only become evident once practice sessions start on Friday morning.
