Pecco Bagnaia Battles Neck and Shoulder Pain After Aragon MotoGP Crash with Alex Marquez
Pecco Bagnaia "in considerable pain" following Aragon MotoGP collision with Alex Marquez
Francesco Bagnaia reported experiencing pain in his neck and shoulder after a crash with Alex Marquez during the Aragon MotoGP race.
Francesco Bagnaia has provided specifics about the injuries he sustained following his collision with Alex Marquez during the Aragon MotoGP last weekend.
During the 18th lap of the Grand Prix, Marquez veered off course at turn 12, leading to an encounter with Bagnaia. Initially starting in third place, Bagnaia had slipped to seventh due to a slow start but was steadily advancing through the field. He appeared poised to overtake Marquez and secure the final podium position.
The Italian rider attempted to capitalize on Marquez's mistake at turn 12 by making a move at turn 13, just about a hundred meters later. However, their collision caused both of them to crash out of the race.
Bagnaia, in particular, experienced a challenging situation when he rolled under Marquez's bike and subsequently went to the medical center for evaluation.
In an interview with MotoGP.com following the Aragon race, Bagnaia mentioned experiencing "neck pain," but noted that "it isn't too bad and could be worse."

In an Instagram story statement regarding the crash, Bagnaia mentioned experiencing pain in his left shoulder.
Bagnaia explained that he capitalized on Alex Marquez's wide turn to overtake him and then approached the next corner with a broader line, aware of another rider's presence. He expressed regret that the situation unfolded unfavorably, especially since the weekend had already posed many challenges.
"Following a challenging beginning, caused by the difficult conditions at that grid position, I managed to stage a solid recovery and was significantly faster. At the moment, I'm experiencing considerable pain, particularly in my left shoulder, but it appears that nothing is broken."
"We are aiming to be in top shape for Misano."
As the San Marino Grand Prix approaches this weekend, Bagnaia has just four days to regain his physical condition before practice starts for this home race. This scenario is quite similar to what he experienced last year when he suffered a crash at the Catalan Grand Prix and came to Misano with leg injuries.
Last year, Bagnaia secured third place in both the Sprint and Grand Prix races, even though he was dealing with injuries. However, the impact of his recent crash in Aragon on his performance in Misano will only become evident once practice sessions start on Friday morning.
