Yamaha appoints new leader to succeed Lin Jarvis
Paolo Pavesio set to take on managing director role in 2025
Paolo Pavesio has been appointed to succeed Lin Jarvis at Yamaha.
Starting January 1, 2025, Pavesio is set to take on the role of managing director at Yamaha Motor Racing.
He formerly held the position of Director of Marketing and Motorsport at Yamaha Motor Europe, where he reorganized the motorsport department, leading to their subsequent world championship victories in World Superbikes, Endurance World Championship (EWC), and Motocross Grand Prix (MXGP).
Pavesio is set to take over from Jarvis, who has led Yamaha for 26 years and will be stepping down
Jarvis guided Yamaha to secure eight rider championships, six manufacturer championships, and seven team championships. He managed the peak years of the Japanese company with stars like Valentino Rossi and Jorge Lorenzo, and also their latest championship win with Fabio Quartararo.
While Jarvis will step down from his role as managing director, he will continue to serve as a Senior Advisor at Yamaha.
Speaking for myself and Yamaha, I want to express our gratitude to Lin for his commitment and accomplishments throughout the last 26 years," stated Takahiro Sumi, the General Manager of the Motor Sports Development Division.
"His dedication, hard work, and leadership have played a crucial role in Yamaha's achievements in MotoGP, and I am pleased that we will continue to benefit from his expertise and experience in the future."
Lin's position as Managing Director will be taken over by Paolo Pavesio. Pavesio has an extensive background from his time at YME, where he served as the Marketing and Motorsport Director. During his tenure, he successfully led Yamaha teams to secure World Championship titles in WorldSBK, EWC, and MXGP.
"I am excited for Paolo to join YMR in January. With him at the helm, I believe Yamaha will achieve the future success in MotoGP that we all aim for."
