Yamaha appoints new managing director to succeed Lin Jarvis
Paolo Pavesio to take over the role in 2025
Paolo Pavesio has been appointed to take over Lin Jarvis' role at Yamaha.
On January 1, 2025, Pavesio is set to take on the role of managing director at Yamaha Motor Racing.
Before, he served as the Director of Marketing and Motorsport at Yamaha Motor Europe, where he reorganized the motorsport department, leading to world championship victories in World Superbikes, EWC, and MXGP.
Pavesio will take over for Jarvis, who is stepping down after 26 years as the head of Yamaha.
Jarvis guided Yamaha to secure eight championships for riders, six for constructors, and seven for teams. He managed the peak years of the Japanese company with Valentino Rossi and Jorge Lorenzo, and also their latest championship win with Fabio Quartararo.
Despite stepping down from his role as managing director, Jarvis will continue to serve Yamaha in the capacity of a Senior Advisor.
"On a personal level and representing Yamaha, I want to express my gratitude to Lin for his commitment and accomplishments over these 26 years," stated Takahiro Sumi, General Manager of the Motor Sports Development Division.
His dedication, hard work, and guidance have played a crucial role in Yamaha's achievements in MotoGP, and I am pleased that we will continue to benefit from his expertise and experience in the future.
Paolo Pavesio will take over the position of Managing Director from Lin. Pavesio brings extensive experience from his time at YME, where, as the Marketing and Motorsport Director, he led Yamaha teams to win World Championship titles in WorldSBK, EWC, and MXGP.
"I am eager for Paolo to join YMR in January, and I believe that with his guidance, Yamaha will achieve the MotoGP success we all aim for."
