Yamaha announces new managing director to succeed Lin Jarvis
Paolo Pavesio to take over the role in 2025
Paolo Pavesio has been appointed to take over Lin Jarvis' position at Yamaha.
Pavesio is set to take on the role of managing director at Yamaha Motor Racing starting January 1, 2025.
Before, he served as the Director of Marketing and Motorsport at Yamaha Motor Europe. During his tenure, he reorganized the motorsport division, leading it to secure world championships in World Superbikes, EWC, and MXGP.
Pavesio will take over the position from Jarvis, who has been the Yamaha chief for 26 years and is stepping
Under Jarvis's leadership, Yamaha secured eight rider championships, six constructor championships, and seven team championships. He guided the Japanese company through its peak years with Valentino Rossi and Jorge Lorenzo and also managed the latest title win with Fabio Quartararo.
Even though Jarvis is stepping down from his role as managing director, he will continue to serve Yamaha in the capacity of Senior Advisor.
Takahiro Sumi, who serves as the General Manager for the Motor Sports Development Division, expressed his gratitude by saying, “I want to extend my thanks to Lin for his dedication and accomplishments throughout the last 26 years, both on a personal level and on behalf of Yamaha.”
His dedication, hard work, and leadership have played a key role in Yamaha's achievements in MotoGP, and I am pleased that we will continue to benefit from his expertise and experience in the future.
Lin's successor as Managing Director will be Paolo Pavesio. Pavesio has a rich background of experience from his time at YME, where he served as Marketing and Motorsport Director. During his tenure, he successfully led Yamaha teams to secure World Championship titles in WorldSBK, EWC, and MXGP.
