Official Records for Sachsenring MotoGP:
Fastest lap: Maverick Vinales, 1 minute 19.622 seconds (2024)
Quickest lap in the race: Johann Zarco clocked 1 minute 21.225 seconds (2023)
Miguel Oliveira maintains Aprilia's impressive performance at the Sachsenring by topping the charts in the last practice session for the 2024 German MotoGP.
The Trackhouse racer had his most successful session of the year, ending 0.231 seconds ahead of Jorge Martin, the two-time Sachsenring victor from last year.
Marc Marquez, often dubbed the "Sachsenring king," suffered a broken left index finger and a significant rib bruise following a highside crash at 190km/h on Friday. Despite these injuries, he made a return this morning but quickly headed back to the pits after completing just one lap to have his GP23 inspected.
Initially at the bottom of the timesheets, Marquez made a rapid ascent to second place midway through the half-hour, trailing Martin, and eventually settled into third after Oliveira's advance.
Maverick Vinales, who led the timings on Friday, secured fourth place despite a crash at Turn 1. Raul Fernandez, Oliveira’s teammate, ensured three RS-GPs finished in the top six by placing just behind current world champion Francesco Bagnaia.
The first qualifying session for riders not in the top ten as of Friday, including Marc Marquez, is about to start.
