**Max Verstappen Faces Grid Penalty Challenge at Spa: Can Red Bull’s Star Overcome the Odds?**
Max Verstappen faces a significant grid penalty at the Belgian Grand Prix
The Spa track provides numerous opportunities for passing
According to Sky Sports, Max Verstappen will face a 10-place grid penalty at this weekend's Belgian Grand Prix in Formula 1.
The punishment is due to him going over his permitted engine usage.
Since the Canadian Grand Prix, where Verstappen's power unit failed, he has been in a precarious situation.
Red Bull had no choice but to provide him with a fourth power unit, which is the limit allowed for any driver in a single season.
The team has decided that Verstappen will serve his grid penalty at the Spa circuit this weekend, as the track provides numerous chances for overtaking.
A week following Verstappen's heated exchange with his race engineer during a challenging race in Hungary, it has now surfaced.
McLaren drivers Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris secured the top two positions in Hungary, and with Verstappen now dealing with a penalty, they are optimistic about clinching another win.
Craig Slater from Sky Sports commented on Verstappen’s grid penalty, stating, "Although the team has not released an official statement, I have talked to people who are informed about the matter."
"It's currently a very challenging situation. During the last race in Hungary, he came across as beleaguered and exasperated over the team radio. This is due to the fact that other cars are now on par with the Red Bull."
"Several years back, Max managed to advance from a position outside the top 10 to the front of the pack."
"Last year, he overcame a five-place grid penalty to secure a victory starting from sixth position, but this year, winning seems to be a far tougher challenge for him."
"Is there a risk that he might lose more of his lead over Norris in the drivers' standings?"
"Red Bull plans to go back to an earlier aerodynamic design for their car."
"The configuration for the Hungarian Grand Prix was specifically designed to handle the circuit's numerous curves and bends."
The Red Bull car performs exceptionally well at high speeds on straight-line tracks such as Spa, so they might believe there is sufficient capability to advance through the pack.
