Maverick Vinales Battles Direction Change Woes at Assen, Secures Top Five Despite Challenges
Maverick Vinales discusses challenges with steering adjustments at Assen
Maverick Vinales experienced vibrations when maneuvering rapidly at Assen.
Maverick Vinales emerged as the most significant challenger to Ducati during the Dutch MotoGP, engaging in a fierce competition with riders such as Enea Bastianini, Marc Marquez, and Fabio Di Giannantonio for a spot on the podium.
Vinales finished the race in fifth place after Marquez was penalized post-race, moving him down to tenth position.
However, Vinales encountered a challenging race, exerting himself to the maximum right from the first lap.
Vinales seemed to be quicker in specific parts of the circuit and apparently faced no problems when competing against his opponents.
However, the Aprilia racer encountered challenges, experiencing intense vibrations at the high-speed bends.
Vinales remarked, "Throughout the race, I encountered difficulties. I'm not sure if it was due to a shift in the wind, but every time I transitioned from turn 14 to 15, my bike experienced significant shaking."
"In these turns, I found myself at a disadvantage. Our motorcycle's forte, which is its ability to switch paths, surprisingly turned out to be less effective when measured against our rivals."
"While we're not content because our goal is to vie for victory, we're pleased with our performance as we were the sole challengers to Ducati."
"I noticed Pedro [Acosta] was pretty close behind, but he was on a different tire. Honestly, I pushed to the limit right from the first lap."
Vinales emerged as the sole factory Aprilia competitor following Aleix Espargaro's withdrawal due to injury.
Test pilot Lorenzo Savadori chose to sit out the grand prix after suffering from back fractures due to a crash in the sprint race.
