Marquez Triumphs with Dominant Victory at Aragon GP as Bagnaia Crashes Out in Drama-Filled Race
At the MotoGP Aragon Grand Prix, Marc Marquez showcased a commanding performance, leading from start to finish, while Pecco Bagnaia's race ended early due to a collision with Alex Marquez.
At the Aragon Grand Prix for MotoGP, Marc Marquez claimed his first Grand Prix win in more than 1,000 days, achieving it in a commanding manner.
Dominating from start to finish, Marquez showcased outstanding speed and ultimately secured victory, finishing nearly five seconds ahead of Jorge Martin.
Martin increased his lead in the championship to 23 points by finishing second, after Francesco Bagnaia exited the race due to a collision with Alex Marquez, who also went down in the incident.
Bagnaia was making impressive progress through the pack, having initially spun his rear tire from the less clean part of the starting grid. He found himself in seventh position out of the gate, climbed to sixth following Miguel Oliveira's fall, advanced to fifth after Franco Morbidelli drifted off course, and then secured fourth place by causing Pedro Acosta to err at the 16th turn.
Several circuits were completed in an effort to overtake Marques, who deviated from his line at turn 12, providing Bagnaia with an opportunity to pass as they approached turn 13. However, during the maneuver into turn 13, Bagnaia and Marquez collided, causing both to crash.
Following the race, Bagnaia was taken to the medical facility, but there has been no further information released regarding his status.
The collision between the two riders elevated Pedro Acosta to third position, though he finished nearly 15 seconds after the leader.
Brad Binder secured a fourth-place finish, while Enea Bastianini climbed to fifth despite beginning in 14th position. Franco Morbidelli came in sixth, followed by Fabio Di Giannantonio, Marco Bezzecchi, Alex Rins, and Jack Miller, who completed the top 10.
Fabio Quartararo experienced a collision, and Maverick Vinales withdrew from the race as well.
Investigations were initiated after the race involving Fabio Di Giannantonio, Jack Miller, and Raul Fernandez due to issues related to the pressure of their front tires.
