Marquez Triumphs in Aragon Grand Prix as Bagnaia’s Title Hopes Slide in Dramatic Crash
In the MotoGP Aragon Grand Prix, Marc Marquez showcased his supremacy by leading from start to finish, while Pecco Bagnaia's race ended prematurely due to a collision with Alex Marquez.
At the Aragon Grand Prix in the MotoGP series, Marc Marquez secured his initial Grand Prix win in more than 1,000 days, achieving it through a commanding performance.
Dominating from the start to the finish, Marquez showcased outstanding speed and ultimately triumphed, finishing nearly five seconds ahead of Jorge Martin.
Martin widened his lead in the championship to 23 points by finishing second, following Francesco Bagnaia's crash after colliding with Alex Marquez, who also went down in the incident.
Bagnaia made his way up from the back after initially losing traction with his rear tyre on the grid's unclean side. He found himself in seventh position at the onset, climbed to sixth following Miguel Oliveira's crash, advanced to fifth as Franco Morbidelli went off track, and reached fourth after compelling Pedro Acosta to err at turn 16.
Several circuits were completed in pursuit of Marques, who deviated off course at the 12th turn, providing Bagnaia an opportunity to overtake him entering the 13th turn. However, as Bagnaia was maneuvering through turn 13, he collided with Marquez, resulting in both riders crashing.
Following the race, Bagnaia was taken to the medical center, however, there has been no further information released regarding his state.
The collision between them elevated Pedro Acosta to the third position, though he was nearly 15 seconds away from the leader.
Brad Binder secured the fourth position, while Enea Bastianini made a remarkable comeback to finish fifth, despite beginning from 14th place. Franco Morbidelli claimed the sixth spot, followed by Fabio Di Giannantonio, Marco Bezzecchi, Alex Rins, and Jack Miller, who completed the top ten.
Fabio Quartararo experienced a crash, and Maverick Vinales decided to retire from the race as well.
Investigations were initiated after the race concerning Fabio Di Giannantonio, Jack Miller, and Raul Fernandez regarding the pressure of their front tyres.
