Marquez Triumphs in Aragon Grand Prix Amidst Drama: Bagnaia Crashes in Clash with Alex Marquez
Marc Marquez showcased his supremacy at the MotoGP Aragon Grand Prix, securing a victory from start to finish, while Pecco Bagnaia's race ended in a crash involving Alex Marquez.
At the Aragon Grand Prix, Marc Marquez secured his initial Grand Prix win in more than 1,000 days, achieving the victory with commanding performance.
Dominating from start to finish, Marquez showcased remarkable speed and ultimately triumphed, finishing nearly five seconds ahead of Jorge Martin.
Martin increased his lead in the championship to 23 points by securing second place, following Francesco Bagnaia's crash after colliding with Alex Marquez, who also fell during the incident.
Bagnaia was making impressive progress through the ranks, having initially lost traction due to spinning his rear tire from the less clean part of the starting grid. He began in seventh position, moved up to sixth following Miguel Oliveira's fall, advanced to fifth as Franco Morbidelli veered off course, and then climbed to fourth by pressuring Pedro Acosta into an error on the 16th turn.
After completing several circuits, they pursued Marques, who veered off course at turn 12, paving the way for Bagnaia to overtake him entering turn 13. However, as Bagnaia maneuvered through turn 13, he collided with Marquez, causing both riders to crash.
Following the race, Bagnaia was taken to the medical center, however, there has been no further information released regarding his status.
The collision between the pair elevated Pedro Acosta to a third-place finish, though he was nearly 15 seconds adrift of the first-place finisher.
Brad Binder secured the fourth position, while Enea Bastianini climbed to fifth place from a 14th-place start. Franco Morbidelli finished in sixth, followed by Fabio Di Giannantonio, Marco Bezzecchi, Alex Rins, and Jack Miller, who completed the top 10.
Fabio Quartararo experienced a crash, and Maverick Vinales ended up retiring as well.
Following the race, probes were initiated into Fabio Di Giannantonio, Jack Miller, and Raul Fernandez regarding the pressure of their front tyres.
