Marko Teases Major VCARB F1 Seat Announcement Post-Singapore: Ricciardo or Lawson to Partner Tsunoda?
Helmut Marko hints at revealing the other VCARB F1 driver next to Yuki Tsunoda following the Singapore event.
Helmut Marko, an advisor for Red Bull, has hinted that the identity of VCARB's second Formula 1 driver will be revealed after the Singapore Grand Prix.
Who will team up with Yuki Tsunoda for the 2025 Formula 1 season remains uncertain, with Daniel Ricciardo and Liam Lawson being the primary contenders.
Throughout the season, Tsunoda has consistently outshone Ricciardo, despite initial expectations that the Australian would be the more probable candidate to take over Sergio Perez's spot at Red Bull should the team choose to switch drivers during the summer break.
Currently, Red Bull faces a choice between Ricciardo and Lawson.
Lawson made a notable impact in his brief period as a substitute last year, interestingly enough, filling in for Ricciardo.
Ricciardo's performance has generally been lackluster, though he has shown consistent improvement over the course of the year.
The Australian is also supported by Red Bull chief Christian Horner.
Nonetheless, with Lawson poised for action, Isack Hadjar making a mark in F2, and Arvid Lindblad, another standout junior, creating an opportunity at VCARB might prove advantageous for the Red Bull initiative.
In a conversation with Viaplay, Marko mentioned, "We have a plan in mind, so hold tight until Singapore. It's still September, and by then, we'll have a definitive understanding.
"It will be evident there what is going to occur."
Marko has confirmed once again that Lawson is set to race for a Red Bull-affiliated team in 2025.
Should Ricciardo be swapped out for the upcoming season, he would find himself without a Formula 1 seat.
A possible opening exists at Sauber, currently undecided on whether to choose Valtteri Bottas or McLaren junior Gabriel Bortoleto.
In the next few weeks, a decision is anticipated from Mattia Binotto.
In 2024, Bottas hasn't managed to earn any points, a situation attributable to Sauber's subpar performance.
Bortoleto emerges as a thrilling choice, currently leading the F2 rankings following the Baku race.
