Marini and Mir Eye Crucial Development Phase at Assen and Sachsenring for Honda MotoGP
Luca Marini views the races at Assen and Sachsenring as opportunities to "explore many things" for Honda.
Luca Marini is the sole full-time MotoGP competitor who has not yet earned any points as the championship heads to Assen for the Dutch round this weekend.
The Italian rider has struggled to achieve significant progress with the RC213V, which falls short in performance when compared to its competitors.
Although Marini has completed each race this season, his highest placement has been 16th, achieved at both COTA and Le Mans.
Nevertheless, the ex-Ducati racer anticipates that Honda will experiment with various strategies in the upcoming two races to help him close the gap with the leading riders.
Marini expressed his enthusiasm about rejoining the Honda team to continue their development efforts.
"It's been quite a lengthy hiatus, and I'm eager to get back to our tasks since we made significant progress by the end of the weekend at Mugello."
"I am certain that the upcoming two weeks will be beneficial for everyone in the Repsol Honda Team prior to the official MotoGP 'Summer Break.'"
"Assen and Sachsenring are distinct circuits, providing us with the opportunity to investigate various aspects."
"Working effectively is crucial," says Mir. Despite facing challenges in his second season with Honda, the rider is expected to renew his contract with the Japanese team. Mir remains optimistic about making progress in the crash-filled 2024 season.
Mir mentioned, "I’ve enjoyed three productive weeks dedicated to training and working following a hectic beginning to the year."
"We're now approaching two consecutive races followed by a brief pause, so it's crucial to perform effectively both this weekend in Assen and the following week in Germany."
"During the second break, we'll have an opportunity to focus more on the bike and continue making enhancements. Let's tackle it with our usual level of dedication."
