Marco Bezzecchi’s Swift Shift: From VR46 Ducati to Factory Aprilia Rider in 2025
Marco Bezzecchi: Rapid deal with Aprilia "was mutually desired"
Marco Bezzecchi acknowledges that he swiftly moved from VR46 Ducati to Aprilia.
In 2025, Marco Bezzecchi will step up to the role of a factory MotoGP rider for the first time, teaming up with Jorge Martin at Aprilia Racing.
Bezzecchi has had difficulties finding his form in 2024, but Aprilia quickly decided to sign the skilled Italian without hesitation.
In his first public statement since the announcement of his move to Aprilia, Bezzecchi expressed his excitement, saying, “I’m thrilled to return [to Assen] with this significant update. I’m delighted to step into the role of a factory rider.”
"The rider market is in such an early stage that we need to remain focused, as there are still many grand prix events ahead."
"Excited about the news but also highly focused and energized to conclude the season successfully."
Both Martin and Marc Marquez quickly signed with the factory teams of Aprilia and Ducati, a situation that was similar for Bezzecchi when Aprilia initially showed interest in recruiting him.
Bezzecchi commented: "I'm not sure if it happened quickly, but it was definitely something we both desired. It felt fast, but I believe it was pretty standard."
Bezzecchi's exit from Aprilia signifies he will be the second rider from the VR46 academy to part ways with Valentino Rossi's team in the past two years.
In late 2023, Luca Marini departed for a spot on Honda's factory team. However, before Marco Bezzecchi follows suit, he aims to create more remarkable memories as his primary goal.
Bezzecchi mentioned that these upcoming 13 races are crucial for him as he aims to make progress. He admitted facing challenges in the initial phase of the season.
"I aim to return, regain my strength, and conclude the season successfully."
"I have many wonderful memories with the team that I will cherish throughout my career. It will feel unusual, but also very pleasant."
