**”Marc Marquez’s Moto2 Fear Factor: Could Andrea Iannone Make a Comeback to MotoGP?”**
Uncovered: “The sole competitor Marc Marquez was apprehensive about in Moto2”
"I recall a conversation I had with Marquez a few years back…"
Next year, a Moto2 rider who once intimidated Marc Marquez might join him again on the MotoGP circuit.
Davide Tardozzi revealed that Andrea Iannone is the rider who struck fear into the emerging legend.
After serving a four-year suspension for doping, Iannone, who currently competes with Ducati in the World Superbikes, is evaluating his possibilities for the 2025 season.
Ducati's team manager Tardozzi mentioned to GPOne that Andrea should aim to perform well in WSBK, given his age.
"There's no doubt that MotoGP is on his mind, but I find it unlikely that he'll make it there."
"He possesses innate ability, and I recall a conversation I had with Marquez a few years back."
"In Moto2, Marc was only ever afraid of Iannone."
"Andrea had earned the recognition befitting an eight-time world champion."
In 2012, Marquez claimed the Moto2 championship title, with Pol Espargaro securing second place and Iannone finishing in third.
One year prior, Marquez finished in second place behind Stefan Bradl, with Iannone securing third place once more.
Years down the line, after Marquez dominated MotoGP and embarked on a new journey to secure another title with Ducati, Iannone is also going through a resurgence.
The once-overlooked motorcycle racer has made a significant impact in the initial races of the WSBK season, representing Go Eleven Ducati.
Tardozzi reveals that the Pramac MotoGP team is one of the groups interested in him for the upcoming year.
Tardozzi mentioned that Paolo Campinoti holds him in high regard.
"In my opinion, though, the matter presents a fair amount of difficulty for a variety of reasons."
"Andrea is performing admirably in World Superbike, but MotoGP is a different level, and I'm uncertain whether he can still handle it after all these years."
"The manner of riding has evolved, and this shift has also altered the traits of the bicycles."
Iannone might pursue the factory Ducati WSBK ride if Alvaro Bautista decides to leave.
