**Marc Marquez Secures Dream Move to Factory Ducati: “I Was Honest About What I Wanted”**
Marc Marquez stated, "I was clear about my desires" in discussions with Ducati. Marquez explained, "I was upfront about my expectations. My aim was to secure the newest bike, either with Gresini or on the factory team, and they decided to place me on the factory team."
Marc Marquez, having made a wise decision to switch from Honda to Gresini Ducati, appears to have struck gold once more with his upcoming MotoGP transfer.
Next season, Marquez will team up with Francesco Bagnaia at the official Lenovo Ducati squad, forming the strongest duo in the competition.
As the Mugello event approached, speculation indicated that Jorge Martin was the frontrunner to team up with Bagnaia. However, concerned about potentially losing Marquez, Ducati moved quickly to secure the eight-time world champion's commitment.
In his first public appearance since the announcement, Marquez expressed his excitement and gratitude, stating, "Naturally, I'm extremely pleased and deeply thankful to Ducati for selecting me as an official rider and as a teammate to Pecco [Bagnaia]."
"Just a year ago, I was on the verge of quitting my career, but fortunately, the summer break came, allowing me to rest and rejuvenate both physically and mentally."
"At that moment, I chose a different path. I am grateful to Honda for respecting my decision to move to Gresini."
"At Gresini, I instantly felt that sense of assurance and knew right away that achieving that level of confidence was possible."
The team environment was ideal for revitalizing a rider who had somewhat lost their way. From there, I put in my best effort and became one of the candidates for the official Ducati motorcycle, which was a significant honor for me.
"I put in my best effort on the racetrack, and by Sunday evening in Mugello, they chose me as the rider. Within two days, we completed the contract."
"Extremely pleased but aware that there's still a long season ahead. I aim to give my all for Gresini, a highly professional and excellent team."
For several weeks, Marquez was unwavering in his statements about his future, indicating he was evaluating three possibilities for the 2025 season. These included joining Gresini, the official Ducati team, and a third, unnamed team (rumored to be KTM, though they denied having any discussions with Marquez).
Marquez emphasized once more during the pre-event press conference in Assen that he specifically wanted the newest model from Ducati.
"Within my team, everything remained the same," Marquez started. "We received consistent updates from Le Mans, to Montmelo, and then to Mugello. They were contemplating the decision, and by Wednesday in Mugello, they were still deliberating, so I felt at ease."
"I clearly expressed my desires. I aimed for the newest bike either with Gresini or the official team, and they selected me for the official team."
"A rider aims to join the official team. Donning the red uniform next year will be an honor, and I will strive to represent its colors with all my effort."
Having clinched victory twice at Assen in MotoGP, Marquez is still a strong candidate for the championship and might secure a substantial number of points in the upcoming two races.
Marquez comes to the Dutch track with one of the best-equipped motorcycles available, and next up is the Sachsenring, a place where he has consistently dominated thanks to a bike that meets his requirements perfectly.
Eager to compete more closely with Bagnaia and Martin on the GP23 this weekend, Marquez commented: "We'll see how it goes. We'll give it our all, and I believe we have a strong setup."
"Our team is collaborating effectively, and we appreciate the backing from Ducati. We aim to stay competitive with them."
"The person to watch out for this weekend is Pecco, as he has clinched victory here for the past two years."
"Last year, Jorge was the quickest in the race, so we'll see if we can match that. I believe I have the necessary tools to succeed, but I need to work on enhancing my skills."
