Marc Marquez questioned on the possibility of forming a 'dream team' with Pedro Acosta on KTMs
Marc Marquez inquired if partnering with Pedro Acosta on KTM motorcycles was ever considered…
Marc Marquez faced questions about KTM being a potential choice before he committed to his new contract with Ducati.
Marquez has signed an agreement to join Ducati's official team for the 2025 and 2026 seasons, securing the use of factory equipment and extra backing.
Prior to his thrilling victory over Jorge Martin in the highly sought-after bike race, there were whispers that KTM might be an option.
When questioned, Marquez was inquired about the possibility of creating an ideal partnership with Pedro Acosta under the KTM banner.
He said to AS, "Out of respect for the brands, I will not mention either Plan B or Plan C."
"I made it absolutely clear that my top priority was getting a Ducati."
"Since I made a significant change last year, I wasn't eager to make another major adjustment right away."
"I was torn between staying where I was or getting angry."
"Faced with two choices, I managed to obtain the one I preferred, the superior option."
Nevertheless, Marquez had high praise for Acosta, who has the potential to become a future competitor.
This year, Acosta has smoothly moved up to the premier class, and in 2025, he will advance from Tech3 GASGAS to KTM's factory team.
Marquez was questioned about which MotoGP racer he respects and believes has a promising future.
"I've consistently mentioned Pedro Acosta," he replied.
"People have been showing up and they are leaving quickly."
"You can observe it with Pecco and Martin, but then Pedro Acosta comes along and does things differently."
"Currently, he does not yet have the experience to manage every situation."
"However, he eventually shows up and engages in various activities."
"He has the potential to compete in MotoGP for several years."
Does Marquez identify with the emerging young talent?
"Absolutely, absolutely, absolutely," he responded.
"When I joined MotoGP, I encountered Valentino Rossi, Jorge Lorenzo, and Dani Pedrosa."
"Pedro Acosta is someone who, with his patience and composure, will achieve great success."
Instead of being teammates, Marquez and Acosta will compete as factory opponents next season.
Possibly, even with the title at stake.
