MV Agusta Eyes 2027 MotoGP Comeback Under New Regulations: Pierer Mobility Group Reveals Strategic Plans
New information has emerged regarding the plan to bring MV Agusta back to MotoGP
"2027 could be an ideal year for MV Agusta to debut in MotoGP."
According to its owners, MV Agusta might make a comeback to MotoGP in 2027.
The well-known brand is a property of Pierer Mobility Group, which also owns KTM and GASGAS.
MV Agusta is the brand of motorcycle that the famed Giacomo Agostini used to secure his top-tier championships. However, lately, it has needed restoration under its new proprietors.
However, it might make a comeback to the race track once the new MotoGP rules are implemented.
"We still aim to reintroduce MV Agusta to the top tier," said Hubert Trunkenpolz, a board member of Pierer Mobility Group, in an interview with GPOne.
"However, we definitely won't create a different engine specifically for this purpose, as we believe the top MotoGP engine we produce should remain singular and not be withheld from MV."
“We desire the same for this brand, too.
By 2027, KTM and MV will both utilize a new 850cc engine for their MotoGP bikes. Consequently, MV will not operate as an independent manufacturer that year. "It's beyond our financial reach and simply not feasible for us," they stated.
“Our strategy with MV Agusta is quite straightforward.
"We need to focus on putting the company back on course from 2024 to 2026. This process will require time to steady everything, including our product lineup, production facilities, and business operations."
"There's no use in participating in MotoGP races until all preparations are complete."
"Nonetheless, 2027 could be an opportune year for MV Agusta to make its debut in MotoGP."
MV Agusta competed in the Moto2 class for a period of three years, ending in 2022.
