Marc Marquez and Jorge Martin React to Lewis Hamilton-Gresini MotoGP Rumours: ‘Maybe I’ll Buy an F1 Team
Marc Marquez reacts to speculation about Lewis Hamilton and Gresini: “I might purchase a Formula 1 team.”
Both Marc Marquez and Jorge Martin comment on the buzz surrounding Lewis Hamilton's alleged interest in acquiring the Gresini MotoGP team.
This weekend, MotoGP isn't the sole highlight because the Formula 1 world championship is also happening at Silverstone. Seven-time champion Lewis Hamilton has shared his thoughts on the rumors about his interest in joining the Gresini team.
“I’ve been a fan of MotoGP for as long as I can remember,” Hamilton remarked. “The prospect of the sport’s expansion intrigues me.”
"I haven't explored that in depth yet, but I believe anything can happen. I am certainly intrigued by equity."
"Acquiring the Broncos marked the initial foray into owning a sports team."
"Hopefully, in the next five to ten years, there will be more developments. We'll have to wait and see…"
Hamilton is internationally renowned, not just for his achievements in Formula 1, but also for his influence outside the racing circuit.
The acquisition of a MotoGP team by someone with a prominent name like Hamilton could greatly benefit the series, as Jorge Martin noted during Thursday's pre-event press conference at Sachsenring.
Martin commented, "I observed it and found it intriguing. However, the media often talks about things, and then no action follows."
"You always aim to be the initial person to announce it. It's fresh information, and I believe that it will be intriguing even if it comes to pass."
"This is due to the expanding popularity of the sport. We are only at the start. I believe the upcoming years will be very exciting for MotoGP, and if a notable figure like Hamilton is interested in purchasing a MotoGP team, it indicates a shift is happening."
Marc Marquez, a friend of Hamilton, entered the discussion and humorously mentioned that he might seek an opportunity in Formula 1.
"If it's genuine, as you can never be certain, it's beneficial for our sport," Marquez commented.
"Whether or not it's genuine, it's beneficial for our sport since MotoGP requires discussion and attention."
"Perhaps I'm considering purchasing a Formula 1 team, but I don't have the financial resources for it," he said with a laugh.
