Lewis Hamilton Unfazed by Reuniting with Mercedes Colleagues at Ferrari, Eyes Future Success
Lewis Hamilton comments on the significant addition of two Mercedes team members joining him at Ferrari.
Lewis Hamilton has minimized the significance of being familiar with individuals he will collaborate with upon joining Ferrari in F1 2025.
The seven-time world champion is leaving Mercedes after this season to join Ferrari in a high-profile move, where he will partner with Charles Leclerc.
Hamilton is set to rejoin forces with Fred Vasseur, the team principal of Ferrari, with whom he previously collaborated in his early single-seater career while racing for ART Grand Prix, where he claimed the 2006 GP2 championship title.
He will also reconnect with known associates such as Jock Clear, as Loic Serra and Jerome D’Ambrosio make their move to the Italian squad from Mercedes in October.
In response to a question about the significance of already knowing some colleagues for his adaptation to Ferrari, Hamilton stated, “Upon joining Mercedes, I was unfamiliar with everyone, and that was perfectly okay. Therefore, I don’t believe it has a major impact on me personally.
"Clearly, I've collaborated with Loic for a long stretch of time. We also share a strong professional bond. Additionally, my initial second-in-command, Jock [Clear], is part of that team.
"They are the sole pair whom I believe I am especially familiar with, alongside Fred."
Looking ahead to the upcoming Emilia Romagna Grand Prix this weekend, Hamilton expressed his enthusiasm about the new improvements Mercedes is rolling out.
"Hamilton expressed optimism after his recent race, emphasizing that the season still has much to unfold," he stated, reflecting on his sixth-place achievement in Miami, his top performance in 2024 to date.
"I'm genuinely thrilled about the upcoming advancements. We made progress in the previous race, and we're making another leap this weekend, with even more improvements on the way.
"It seems we've discovered a clearer direction for our actions and transformations. Progress may be slow, but the team's enthusiasm is incredible."
This team exhibits remarkable resilience. Despite facing numerous setbacks, they persist in striving forward.
"We must persist in maintaining our concentration and diligently work towards excelling every weekend."
