Jeremy Clarkson Fuels Speculation Over Adrian Newey’s F1 Future with Oxfordshire House-Hunting Revelation
Jeremy Clarkson hints at Adrian Newey’s future with ‘house-hunting’ remark
Did Jeremy Clarkson reveal a crucial detail about Adrian Newey's next step in Formula 1?
Jeremy Clarkson seemed to suggest where Adrian Newey might go next in his Formula 1 career during the British Grand Prix.
During the pre-race activities at Silverstone before the British Grand Prix on Sunday, the ex-host of Top Gear revealed to Viaplay TV that 65-year-old Newey is in the market for a home in Oxfordshire.
"Looking for an exclusive scoop? Clarkson revealed to the Dutch host that Adrian Newey is searching for a new home in Oxfordshire, not Maranello."
Clarkson, currently the host of The Grand Tour and Clarkson's Farm on Amazon Prime, attended school with Newey.
Rumors about Newey's future have escalated since it was revealed in May that he would be stepping down as Red Bull's chief technical officer.
The iconic Formula 1 designer has been strongly rumored to move to Ferrari to team up with Lewis Hamilton, but Aston Martin has intensified their attempts to recruit Newey.
According to Autosport, the team located in Silverstone recently had Newey over for a confidential tour of their factory.
Newey has been reserved about his plans moving forward, though he acknowledged that "I’ll need to have made a decision" by winter.
In an interview with Sky Sports, Newey was questioned about his future plans. He responded, “I’m not sure. Right now, I’m focused on working on the RB17, our track car, and then I plan to take a break.”
"Just last week, we spent seven days, taking advantage of the favorable weather, driving our old Aston Martin DB6 along the south coast with our dogs. It was a fantastic experience."
Although Newey has reduced his daily responsibilities at Red Bull, he remains involved in the development of the RB17 hypercar.
