Honor Clinches Top Spot in Western Europe’s Foldable Smartphone Market, Outshines Samsung: Counterpoint Research Report
Honor surpasses Samsung to become the leader in Western Europe's foldable smartphone industry. For the first time, the company, which originated from Huawei, has claimed this position in Western Europe. This region is the second-biggest market for foldable phones, following China.
Honor, a smartphone brand from China, has overtaken Samsung Electronics to claim the top spot as the leading producer of foldable phones in Western Europe, says a report from the business analytics firm, Counterpoint Research.
Honor, a subsidiary of Huawei Technologies, topped the charts for the first time in Q2. Western Europe, being the second biggest market for foldable phones after China, is a highly contested area for competitors like Motorola, Oppo, OnePlus, and Google, as per the recent Counterpoint report.
Honor, after releasing its well-received Magic V2 book-style globally outside of China last September, experienced a 455 per cent surge in its worldwide foldable shipments during the second quarter. This was the most significant year-on-year increase compared to all other brands, according to the report.
Worldwide, Honor's local competitor Huawei has maintained its position as the top foldable-phone brand for the second quarter in a row, largely due to its strong showing in the Chinese market, as per a separate report from Counterpoint.
