Kenan Sofuoglu, who manages Razgatlioglu, created quite a buzz by stating their intention to move from World Superbike (WSBK) to MotoGP by the year 2025.
"Peter McLaren mentioned on the Crash MotoGP podcast that if he were Honda, Toprak would be among the top contenders on his list."
The capability exists, along with the readiness to tackle a challenging task.
"Potentially on his way to becoming a World Superbike (WSBK) champion for the second time. He would enter MotoGP with a clear slate, not burdened by previous notions like ‘this is what their bike achieved, something your bike hasn't…’"
"He's simply going to hop on the motorcycle, declare his intentions for it, and then push it to its limits, just as he does with the BMW."
"Honda boasts an impressive lineup of accomplished riders, individuals who have demonstrated their prowess by winning races."
"I believe it would be completely beneficial to introduce someone. It's an ideal situation – a newcomer who has extensive experience in managing a project.
"The BMW presents challenges, but he manages to handle it."
"Honda is currently undergoing a restructuring period with Joan Mir."
"This marks the inaugural year in the absence of Marc Marquez, heralding the beginning of a fresh epoch."
"They aim to create a bicycle that doesn't solely rely on this exceptional, unique ability."
"They are developing a multi-rider bicycle, something that has long been suggested as a necessity for Honda instead of just depending on Marc."
"They're just beginning this journey. It's a completely new scenario compared to before, which was centered around 'keeping that individual satisfied, catering to the whims of the exceptionally gifted person'."
"That's no longer the case. They need to adopt Ducati's contemporary strategy, which involves paying attention to all riders to accommodate various styles."
MotoGP Clashes with Razgatlioglu's Approach
Previously, Razgatlioglu narrowly missed an opportunity to join MotoGP, to no avail.
He tried out Yamaha's MotoGP motorcycle, but apparently, his performance wasn't persuasive enough to secure a spot with them.
Subsequently, he parted ways with Yamaha's World Superbike (WSBK) endeavor and joined forces with BMW, positioning himself as a contender for the championship this season.
"Making the shift would entail considerable danger," McLaren commented on Razgatlioglu's potential transition to MotoGP. "He tested the M1, and it proved incompatible with his way of riding."
Understanding the significance of utilizing the rear tyre and grip for braking stands in contrast to Toprak's exceptional technique.
In numerous respects, it could resemble how Marquez adjusted to the Ducati, known for his style of keeping the rear wheel off the ground!
Currently, he's figuring out how to utilize the additional traction.
"That's the procedure Toprak would need to undertake. I'm confident in his ability to accomplish it.
"If his team is enthusiastic and he's considering it, this could be a major boost for MotoGP."
His astute manager, having made a comparable decision in his racing career, is well aware of the potential challenges they face should they make a mistake.
"McLaren remembered that Keenan advanced to Moto2 holding the title of Supersport champion."
"He's aware of how challenging the grand prix paddock can become when you don't have the top-notch equipment."
"He has explicitly stated that Toprak requires the support of a factory team. The options are limited, with Yamaha being one of the few available."
"Returning would be a significant move, especially after having tried out the bicycle and parted ways with them previously."
"Honda is widely recognized for their capabilities. The question really comes down to when."
"If they give it their all? And manage to secure Toprak?
"It would be an incredible achievement for Honda. Moreover, if Toprak manages to reverse the situation, it would truly cement his legendary status!"
"There's a strong argument to be made for Toprak remaining in WSBK and emerging as a legend akin to Jonny Rea, potentially even surpassing him as the greatest of all time."
