Grid Shake-Up at Dutch MotoGP: Bagnaia Secures Pole, Martin’s Penalty Shuffles Starting Lineup
Line-up for the Dutch MotoGP at Assen adjusted following Jorge Martin's penalty
Jorge Martin's demotion by three grid positions has altered the starting order for the Dutch MotoGP at Assen.
Francesco Bagnaia secured the pole position at Assen, having dominated all the practice sessions leading up to the event.
The current world champion clinched the pole position, outpacing title contender Jorge Martin and Maverick Vinales from Aprilia.
Martin received a penalty that pushed him back three positions on the starting grid for riding slowly on the racing line during Q2, moving him from second to fifth place.
Maverick Vinales, Alex Marquez, and Aleix Espargaro each advanced a position due to Martin receiving a penalty.
Following a dispute over track position in the second qualifying session, Marc Marquez had an accident while attempting to pass Aleix Espargaro, ultimately securing a seventh-place finish.
Espargaro, who was forced to rise when Marquez attempted an overtake at turn seven, bettered his performance on the following lap, securing the fifth position.
Alex Marquez is positioned at the front of the second row, with Fabio Di Giannantonio between Espargaro and M. Marquez, who holds the sixth spot.
