Francesco Bagnaia’s 30-Second Leap: Top 12 Riders Outpace 2023 Assen MotoGP Winning Time
Twelve riders have surpassed the winning time of the 2023 Assen MotoGP race. Francesco Bagnaia has notably shaved off 30 seconds from his performance, leading the pack.
After the top 15 riders surpassed the 2023 MotoGP race-winning time at Mugello, the top 12 riders were faster at Assen on Sunday.
Francesco Bagnaia from Ducati, who secured victories in the Dutch Grand Prix in both 2023 and 2024, finished the 26-lap race 30.426 seconds quicker this year compared to the previous year.
However, the overall advancements in the field, often credited to the updated Michelin rear tires, allowed Aprilia, KTM, and Yamaha to each have at least one rider who surpassed Bagnaia’s winning time of 40m 37.640s from the previous season.
The Dutch Grand Prix of 2023 was held under warmer conditions, with the air temperature reaching 22 degrees Celsius on Sunday, which is cooler than the 30 degrees Celsius recorded last year. Similarly, the track temperature was 'just' 39 degrees Celsius this year, in contrast to 47 degrees Celsius the previous year.
Below are the cumulative race times, excluding the 16-second penalty assessed to Marc Marquez for tyre pressure violations after the race.
