Francesco Bagnaia Unfazed by Ducati’s Decision to Sign Marc Marquez as New Teammate
Francesco Bagnaia states he was not involved in Ducati’s choice to bring Marc Marquez on as his teammate.
Francesco Bagnaia enters this weekend's Dutch MotoGP as the top contender, having secured victories in the previous two races held in Assen.
In the lead-up to the weekend, the buzz was all about Jorge Martin and Marc Marquez, who faced numerous inquiries regarding their recent actions.
In a recent development, Marquez was chosen over Martin to team up with Bagnaia for the 2025 and 2026 seasons. Bagnaia, who had earlier expressed support for Enea Bastianini as his preferred choice, acknowledges that he had no influence over Ducati's final decision.
"I feel like I wasn't part of the decision-making process because it was something I specifically requested," stated Bagnaia.
"I aimed to concentrate on the race itself, and in both scenarios, the circumstances were quite similar. Jorge and Marc are both incredibly quick."
"Right now, Jorge is more in tune with the bike, has greater experience with it, and is quicker."
"The pace of my new teammate was quite comparable to what I was used to. This presents a fresh challenge for me as I aim to outperform a new competitor. I'm looking forward to it."
"Marc is highly intelligent and will know exactly how to collaborate with the team to enhance our circumstances once more."
In his initial seasons at the paddock, Bagnaia spent two years living in a motorhome with Martin.
Bagnaia has frequently advocated for the importance of familiarity when collaborating as riders to enhance the bike's performance.
Though Marquez is relatively new to Ducati, Bagnaia is confident that the eight-time world champion will adjust in a manner that benefits the team.
Bagnaia commented, “Teaming up with Marc is an entirely new experience. We are unfamiliar with each other, and we will explore this new dynamic next year.”
