Francesco Bagnaia Dominates Dutch MotoGP with Thrilling Third Assen Victory: ‘The Best One in MotoGP
Francesco Bagnaia on winning his third Assen race: “My best MotoGP victory”
Francesco Bagnaia capped off an outstanding Dutch MotoGP weekend with one of his finest grand prix performances to date.
Francesco Bagnaia capped off his remarkable weekend at the Dutch MotoGP with an outstanding performance in the grand prix.
Bagnaia maintained his lead throughout both the sprint and the 26-lap grand prix, successfully keeping Jorge Martin behind him.
Bagnaia's victory allows him to close the gap on Martin by an additional five points, putting him just 10 points away from the championship lead.
Commenting on the significance of his victory at Assen, Bagnaia stated: "In terms of outcomes, I believe this is my finest achievement in MotoGP."
"I was in charge of every session, which is quite rare. Achieving victory like this was amazing."
"I accomplished something similar in Moto2 back in 2018. I want to express my pride in my team for their outstanding work throughout the entire weekend."
"The bicycle performed exceptionally well, and we made minor adjustments to improve its handling in high-speed turns, as I was having difficulties in those areas at the beginning of the weekend compared to my fellow riders."
"Once we made the necessary adjustments, everything fell into place. Securing the victory today was an amazing experience."
From the very beginning of Friday, Bagnaia was the fastest, leading to the clear anticipation that he would win after dominating every session except the warm-up.
There was an inherent pressure because only a victory would be considered successful.
When questioned about whether he felt significantly ahead of his rivals this weekend, Bagnaia responded: "This is an incredible moment. Similarly, towards the end of 2021, in the middle of 2022, and throughout last season, there were numerous occasions when I felt exceptional with the bike."
"Right now, I am fully aware of our capabilities and, with hard work, we have the potential to compete for a victory each time."
"Experiencing race weekends like this one can be very motivating. When you begin a race with the expectation to win due to your performance and speed over the weekend, finishing in second place feels like a defeat."
"The pressure was higher, but it didn't bother me; I simply enjoyed every moment. I have a passion for this track and speed. It wasn't an issue for me at all; I truly relished the experience."
