Financial Backing Propels Zhou Guanyu into Contention for Haas F1 Seat in 2025
Zhou Guanyu is now a surprising candidate for Haas F1’s 2025 season, thanks to his $30 million in financial backing.
Zhou Guanyu, currently racing for Sauber F1, has surprisingly become a potential candidate for a spot with Haas in the 2025 season.
As reported by the German publication AMuS, Zhou is among the potential candidates being considered to join Haas.
Oliver Bearman is almost certain to be part of the Haas team next year, although the name of his teammate has not yet been revealed.
According to reports, Zhou secures between $35 million and $40 million in sponsorship from his Chinese supporters, which makes him a promising candidate for Haas.
The Chinese driver has faced challenges with his performance on the track, and Sauber's overall results have been underwhelming. Valtteri Bottas, his teammate, has also not managed to earn any points in the first nine races of the season.
Zhou has significant financial support and connections to the Chinese market, potentially making him a valuable asset for Haas.
Zhou will encounter tough competition to stay in the lineup for next year.
According to the same report, Haas is contemplating Esteban Ocon as a potential driver following his mutual decision to separate from Alpine.
Esteban Ocon is also in the running to join the Audi team, and he might transfer there if Carlos Sainz decides to move to Williams.
Regarding Zhou, he might also consider a comeback to Alpine.
Zhou spent several years in their driver academy prior to becoming a member of Sauber in 2022.
Once more, Zhou’s connections to China would be attractive to a company such as Alpine/Renault.
According to reports, Alpine is thinking about Jack Doohan and Mick Schumacher as potential options.
