Fast Moves: Enea Bastianini Joins Tech3 KTM Amid Rapid Rider Market Shifts
Enea Bastianini: The rider market progressed rapidly, matching our speed on the track!
Enea Bastianini remarked that following the Mugello race, the market accelerated quickly, much like their pace during the race!
Speculation surrounds Enea Bastianini's departure from the factory Ducati team, with reports suggesting he might join the factory Aprilia team or go back to a satellite Ducati team.
He chose to join Tech3 KTM, and he will be teaming up with another recent addition, Maverick Vinales, in 2025.
Following some unremarkable years, Tech3 has regained prominence thanks to the impressive performances of newcomer Pedro Acosta. His exceptional achievements have earned him a promotion to the factory KTM team for the 2025 season.
Acosta is presently ranked fifth and is the leading RC16 rider in the world championship rankings.
To emphasize the uniformity of equipment between its two MotoGP teams, the Austrian manufacturer will outfit Tech3 in the official Red Bull KTM livery next season.
"It has been very challenging. After the Mugello race, everything shifted; Ducati decided to sign Marc Marquez, and the market moved rapidly, just like we do on the track!" Bastianini remarked on Thursday in Assen.
"Making a decision was tough since all my ideas were strong and commendable. However, after reviewing the [Tech3 KTM] team's project, I recognized a genuine chance to strive for victory. This realization, along with the team's enthusiasm, left me feeling extremely optimistic about what lies ahead for me."
"My colleague, Maverick, will be excellent and formidable."
"The motorcycle and assistance are going to be identical to what the factory KTM team uses. This was a significant factor in my decision. Additionally, having Pedro and Brad as benchmarks will be incredibly beneficial."
Enea Bastianini enters the eighth round of the season positioned fourth in the world championship standings, trailing Jorge Martin by 57 points.
