Ducati’s New Chapter: Gigi Dall’Igna Addresses Departures of Martin, Bezzecchi, and Pramac Amid Marc Marquez Speculations
Ducati's Gigi Dall’Igna Breaks Silence on Departure of Jorge Martin, Marco Bezzecchi, and Pramac, Clears Marc Marquez of Blame
Since the Mugello race, Ducati has seen the departure of Jorge Martin and Marco Bezzecchi, who have moved to Aprilia, along with the previous year's MotoGP team champions, Pramac, switching allegiances to Yamaha.
Martin and Bezzecchi decided to leave Ducati in search of factory positions with Aprilia after the company selected Marc Marquez to partner with Francesco Bagnaia for the 2025 season.
Pramac, initially rumored to be in talks with Marquez and thus expected to remain with Ducati, ended up securing a multi-year agreement to transition to Yamaha following the eight-time world champion's denial of any intentions to join the Italian squad. This move by Marquez influenced all three instances of Ducati missing out.
Regarding the upcoming phase for Ducati, Gigi Dall’Igna swiftly came to Marquez's defense.
"Dall'Igna stated that Marc Marquez is not to blame and there's absolutely no issue at hand."
The truth of the matter is, we've nurtured a significant number of riders, including numerous talented and championship-winning individuals. However, the reality we face is that we can't maintain collaborations with them moving forward. This is because they must seek out new opportunities where they can have access to the optimal motorcycle for their needs.
We embark on a fresh chapter as we welcome [Fermin] Aldeguer to our team in the upcoming year.
"We begin anew by nurturing a novice cyclist, aiming to cultivate the future's champion."
There's ongoing uncertainty regarding which team Aldeguer will join, with growing rumors pointing towards the VR46 team.
Dall'Igna revealed that a resolution on the matter is imminent: "We're in the process of addressing it, and by Sachsenring, or soon after, you'll be fully briefed on the situation."
Dall'Igna expressed his thoughts on parting ways with Martin, with whom he has collaborated for a period of four years.
Dall'Igna mentioned, "It feels odd to discuss. For four years, we had conversations with the understanding that we would collaborate again the following year.
"For the initial time, during the first weekend, we're aware that by the year's end, our journey will take a new direction.
"Odd as it may seem, I persist in backing him and providing him with all the necessary details to perform his role. Given he's a Ducati rider through the end of this year, we desire the best outcome for him."
