DBS Hong Kong Pioneers Innovative Workspaces: A Strategy Towards ‘Living More, Banking Less
DBS Hong Kong is pioneering new spaces that go beyond the traditional notions of work and banking areas. Their Corporate Real Estate Strategy and Administration has laid out initiatives that promote a 'Live more, Bank less' lifestyle for both employees and clients. The same Corporate Real Estate Strategy and Administration has repeated these plans, reinforcing the emphasis on enabling individuals to prioritize living over banking.
The shift towards a combination of in-office and remote work models, along with shared workspaces, is transforming the way international professionals operate. The way some companies handle the need for flexible shared workspace solutions is by developing work environments that accommodate the changing requirements of a varied workforce.
DBS Bank Hong Kong is making significant internal changes by utilizing this initiative. Motivated by their commitment to their staff, DBS Hong Kong Corporate Real Estate Strategy and Administration – the division responsible for the bank's property assets – initiated the revamp of the eight office floors it holds at One Island East in Quarry Bay in 2020.
"Nearly 50% of our lives are dedicated to our careers. We often clock more hours in the office environment than we do in our own homes, and more often than not, we spend more time with our coworkers than our own families," states Connie Liu, the leader of DBS Hong Kong Corporate Real Estate Strategy and Administration. "It stands to reason that if employees find joy in their workspace, it benefits not only the employer but also enhances the atmosphere at home."
Certainly, maintaining a balanced ratio between professional and personal life is a crucial element affecting our joy. Hence, apart from improving the client's experience, the bank also aims to boost its employees' experiences.
