Brad Binder’s Tactical Struggles and Jack Miller’s Last-Lap Disappointment at Aragon
Brad Binder exclaimed, "I ended up doing a rolling burnout again!" Meanwhile, Jack Miller remarked, "Rins managed to edge past me." Binder added, "I had devised a solid strategy the night before to avoid spinning out at the start…"
Brad Binder had his best MotoGP weekend since the season began in Qatar, finishing in 4th and 6th place at Aragon.
This occurred even though he veered off course in both races, and despite this, his seventh-place finish came from a more favorable starting position on a messy track.
During the middle portion of the race, Binder trailed rookie Pedro Acosta. This duel turned into a contest for third place after Alex Marquez and Francesco Bagnaia collided with 5 laps remaining.
However, Acosta remained slightly beyond grasp.
“I came up with a solid strategy last night to avoid losing control at the start, and I managed to do a rolling burnout just like I did yesterday!" Binder said with a smile.
"I successfully navigated through and overtook several riders. It was challenging to avoid errors as the front tire overheated while trailing others, right up until the final segment of the race."
"I attempted to gain time by accelerating out of the corners since I couldn't enter them quickly due to the front tire overheating. However, this strategy backfired as the left side of the tire was completely worn out by the end."
“I did everything I could to overtake Pedro, but I had no more power to push from behind!”
"Aside from that, we made several encouraging advancements this weekend. We experimented with the bike's balance, and it appeared to be effective over the duration of the race."
Jack Miller, who started 15th on the grid, made an impressive start and moved up to eighth place by the end of the first lap. However, the Australian rider quickly encountered issues with rear grip.
After being overtaken by Alex Rins for ninth place on the final lap, he was penalized with a 16-second post-race penalty for tyre pressure violations, which relegated him to 15th position.
"It felt like a lengthy race," Miller commented. "The track conditions varied once more; it had been dirty for most of the weekend but appeared more slippery today."
"I put in my utmost effort. It was challenging to manage the [medium] rear tire, and I experienced a significant highside incident while exiting the final turn."
"I found my groove and focused on maintaining it. Crossing from the tire's edge to its center had several challenges, but I managed to finish the race."
"There were no errors during the race, but I found it challenging to keep up with the guys ahead of me. We'll continue to work hard and push forward."
"I’m pleased to have finished in the top ten, but Rins managed to overtake me on the final lap's back straight. I was trying to be as accurate as possible, but I didn't get a good acceleration and he was able to pass me."
“We'll return to Misano.”
Test rider Pol Espargaro will join the KTM team as a wild-card entry, bringing their total number of riders to five for this weekend.
"Head to Misano and consider the subsequent test, along with Pol’s wildcard entry that should provide future benefits," stated team manager Francesco Guidotti.
The initial Misano MotoGP event will commence with Binder trailing Acosta by three points, who currently occupies fifth place in the world championship standings.
Miller, who may be formally announced as a Pramac Yamaha rider during the team's home races in Italy, is currently in 15th place and only three points behind Monster Yamaha’s Fabio Quartararo.
