Brad Binder’s ‘Rolling Burnout’ Drama and Jack Miller’s Last-Lap Heartbreak at Aragon
Brad Binder exclaimed, "I ended up doing a rolling burnout once more!" Meanwhile, Jack Miller mentioned that he was "overtaken by Rins." Binder explained, "I had devised a solid strategy last night to avoid spinning out at the start…"
Brad Binder had his best MotoGP performance since the season began in Qatar, achieving 4th and 6th place finishes at the Aragon event.
This was true even though he veered off course at the start in both races; his seventh-place finish was achieved despite starting from a cleaner section of a messy grid.
Binder stayed behind newcomer Pedro Acosta during the middle part of the race. This duo was competing for third place after Alex Marquez and Francesco Bagnaia collided with 5 laps remaining.
However, Acosta remained just beyond grasp.
"I had an excellent strategy last night to avoid spinning out at the start, and I did another rolling burnout just like I did yesterday," Binder said with a smile.
"I was able to navigate through and overtake several riders. It was challenging to avoid errors since the front tire was overheating while following others until the final part of the race."
"I attempted to compensate for lost time by accelerating out of the corners since I couldn't enter them quickly due to the front overheating. However, this strategy backfired, and by the end, the left side of the tire was completely worn out."
"I gave it my all to overtake Pedro, but my car had no power left in the back!"
"Aside from that, we made several encouraging advancements this weekend. We experimented with the bike's balance, and it appeared to be effective over the course of the race."
Jack Miller, starting in 15th position, made an impressive start by advancing to 8th place by the end of the first lap. However, the Australian quickly faced challenges with maintaining rear grip.
Following a last-lap loss to Alex Rins for ninth place, he was penalized with a 16-second post-race tire pressure violation along with two other riders, causing him to fall to 15th position.
“It was quite a lengthy race,” Miller remarked. “The track conditions varied once more; it’s been mostly dirty throughout the weekend, but today it felt more slippery.”
"I gave it my all. It was challenging to manage the [medium] rear tire and I experienced a significant highside incident while exiting the final turn."
"I found my pace and focused on maintaining it. There were several challenges when transitioning from the tire's edge to its center… but I managed to finish successfully."
"I didn't make any errors during the race, but I found it tough to keep up with the guys ahead. We'll keep pushing forward."
"Thrilled to finish in the top ten, but Rins managed to edge me out on the back straight during the final lap. I was trying my best to be accurate, but I didn't get the acceleration I needed, and he overtook me on the straightaway."
“We'll return to Misano.”
Test rider Pol Espargaro will be participating as a wild-card entry this weekend, increasing the number of KTM riders to five.
"Now we head to Misano, also considering the upcoming test and Pol's wildcard entry, which will be beneficial for us in the future," stated team manager Francesco Guidotti.
The initial Misano MotoGP event will kick off with Binder trailing Acosta by three points, who currently stands fifth in the world championship rankings.
Miller, who might be officially announced as a Pramac Yamaha rider at the team's home races in Italy, is currently in 15th place, just three points behind Monster Yamaha's Fabio Quartararo.
